The first step of obedience to the Lord after you are saved is baptism. It is God’s plan for each person who receives the free gift of salvation to be baptized and added to a local, Biblical church. In this brief overview of baptism, I will present an overview of the main points about baptism from a Biblical perspective.
In this course, we are going to use the word “BAPTISM” as an acrostic, to show from the Scriptures seven concepts related to baptism:
- B is for Biblical
- Why is baptism the first Biblical step of obedience for the believer?
- A is for Authority
- Who has the authority to baptize?
- P is for Picture
- What does the picture of baptism show?
- T is for Testimony
- How is baptism a public testimony of your salvation?
- I is for Immersion
- Why is immersion the Biblical method of baptism?
- S is for Submission
- How does baptism show your submission to God’s plan for your life?
- M is for Membership
- Why is baptism the entry point for membership in the local church?
By the conclusion of this course, I hope that you will have a clear understanding of the importance of baptism, and will have made the choice to be Biblically baptized if you have not been already.
